This weekend sucked

My weekend started with my microwave going out. It has been kind of wonky for weeks now, but Saturday morning it decided to finally give up the ghost. And, of course, it wasn’t a standalone counter microwave. No, this one had to be built-in. And, to make matters worse, when I finally got all the trim taken down, I see that the people who put it in before didn’t have wood trim going down the left side, so I’m going to have to do that. And, to make matters even worser (yes, I just created that word), modern microwaves are smaller than this old beast, so replacing it might not be that easy. Suffice it to say, I searched and searched online before I went to Home Depot and ordered a new microwave and trim kit. It should be here Wednesday, and then I get to see if I can install it. If not, I get to spend more money bringing someone out who can. Until then, I have to use the oven to reheat food. Now I understand why the microwave was such a blessed invention. Joy…

And then my wife and I started playing Resident Evil 5. Now, I’m a wussy. It’s true, and I don’t mind admitting it. It took me about three tries before I ever had the courage to get all the way through Silent Hill 2 (now THAT game is scary!). The RE games are creepy as hell, and fun, but the constant dread and tension of the game wears me out. I can play it for an hour or two, but then I have to put it down so that I can breathe again. The opening to RE5 was tough, but then during the second chapter I actually started having a blast because the ammo was plentiful and the healing items were scattered everywhere. But, in Chapter 3 things get a lot more tight, and the enemies are tougher, so the tension is back. Between playing this and trying to finish Dead Space, I’m a wreck.

And then there’s my backyard. There are several spots where grass just won’t seem to grow no matter what I do, and whenever it rains those areas get really muddy. So, when I let my dogs out, that is of course right where they want to go, which means that I can’t let them back in the house without scrubbing all of their paws to get the mud out so that they don’t track it all through the living room. It is such a pain, and we had rain for several days straight. It’ll be a week before I can let them in again without many towels at the ready.

Anyway, between all those things, plus little things here and there that are small on their own yet huge all together, my weekend pretty well sucked. I hope yours was better.
